Wanting to be a priority in someone’s life is an expectation. Expectations are commonly not shared with other people. This causes them to go unmet. And the only reason anyone gets upset is because an expectation isn’t being met.
This means that you not being a priority in someone’s life is only upsetting because you had an expectation that you would be. But did you know you had this expectation?
At the end of the day, there is really only one thing you can do in this situation. Have a conversation. Share your expectations. Communicate. Learn about their expectations. Learn about the “5 Love Languages”. Talk. Only after you know each other’s expectations and have agreed on those expectations will you know where you truly stand.
