Setting expectations is huge in business. When you think about lawyers, they are experts at setting expectations and thinking about every outcome or possibility. They do this by creating contracts. These are simply expectations, written down, and agreed upon by both parties.
Nobody wants an expectation to go unmet. This is where people get upset. Contracts are the best way to go.
