Improv! Let me explain. We use the tools and techniques of improv in our company to prevent conflict from even happening. Typically conflict occurs when people’s expectations aren’t met. With implementing the rules of improv into our business, expectations are shared, communicated, and agreed upon beforehand. And if not, we have the same tools to un-conflict the situation.
Just the other day an employee walked in being very upset while the rest of us were enjoying each other’s company. We used the tools we learned to help this person calm down, take a moment to see what was happening for themselves and for us, explore their expectation and why it wasn’t met, and within minutes, we were all having a great time.
